Mental illnesses and state negligence: a critical look at the brazilian health system

This article analyzes state negligence regarding mental health in Brazil, addressing the lack of investment, structure and trained professionals in the mental health system. Negligence violates the fundamental rights to life, health and achievement of the human person, guaranteed by the Federal Constitution. The illnesses felt, such as depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder, impact professional and academic life, impairing people's productivity and well-being. Access to mental health services and adequate treatment is a challenge, due to lack of resources and long waiting times. Research on state neglect in mental health is relevant for raising awareness, developing public policy and improving the health system, ensuring the inclusion and protection of the rights of people with mental illness. This article will adopt a hypothetical deductive method approach, a logical approach is employed to explore the possible consequences of the absence of effective public policies in the area of mental health.
