Abstract

The tourism sector has established itself as an important economic activity, being able to foster the generation of employment, income and development. For decades, the country has been seeking to decentralize actions in the sector, whose focus is on regionalization. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the dynamics of formal employment in the 14 tourist regions of the state of Paraná, considering their structural and differential components, in the period from 2013 to 2019. Thus, the shift-share method was adopted as a methodological procedure. The results showed a low dynamism from the perspective of employment growth, and in four regions there was a retraction in the net change in employment in the period. In addition, tourist regions that are not specialized in the tourism were found, and in half of them, the presence of locational advantages was not even verified.
