The article explores the appointment and nomination system for justices of the Brazilian Supreme Federal Court (STF). It begins with a historical overview of the court and then compares it to the systems used in the United States and Germany. Additionally, the article discusses constitutional amendment projects aimed at reforming the current Brazilian process. The central question is whether there is an appropriate model for selecting justices, emphasizing critical analysis and the pursuit of improvement, which are crucial for ensuring the independence and efficiency of the STF. The methodology involved documentary research, doctrinal analysis, and a review of constitutional amendment projects related to the current selection process in Brazil. The discussion covers topics such as the court’s independence, transparency in the selection process, and the need for enhancement. The conclusion highlights the importance of considering efficiency and impartiality when seeking an adequate model for the court.
