This article aims to present rental assistance, a new guarantee for the rights of women who have suffered domestic violence, in addition to the Maria da Penha Law (Law no. 11,340/2006), which aims to grant women pecuniary value after reporting and removal of the aggressor from the home, guaranteeing her subsistence in cases where the woman was economically dependent on her partner. The problem of this article seeks to question whether the rental assistance provided for in Law no. 11,340/06 is a way to free women from patriarchy. The general objective is to analyze rental assistance for victims of domestic violence as a way of freeing women from patriarchy. In this way, there are specific objectives, which seek to analyze the perspective of patriarchy; address the Maria da Penha Law, its foundations and concerns and, finally, understand the importance of rental assistance as a form of autonomy for women victims of domestic violence. The approach methodology adopted is deductive, because it is based on the premise that rental assistance can grant autonomy to women who would remain in the cycle of violence due to economic vulnerability, through bibliographical research on the subject, in addition to jurisprudential understandings and legislation. specific, with Brazil as a geographical area. It can be concluded that the benefit of rental assistance to victims of domestic violence emerged as a form of rupture with patriarchy and the spread of violence, since from its institution, women who were financially dependent on their partners will begin to receive assistance. to stay away from their attackers.
