Families maintance obligations in private international law and the importance of international cooperation: previous considerations

The responsibility to provide maintenance and the need to be maintained can cross borders, after all, considering the increase and mobility of people, there are countless families in which one of them lives in a different country. Therefore, there is a need to create cooperative international mechanisms to regulate the relationships of people who do not live in the same country, especially in the Families Law and the theme of maintenance. In this perspective, as the research is focused on the study of the provision of maintenance in different countries, the article aims to expose the three main conventions that Brazil is one the party and aims to show its general concepts. There are: (1) Convention of the United Nations (UN) on the provision of maintenance abroad or the New York Convention; (2) Inter-American Convention on Maintenance Obligations; (3) Convention on the International Recovery of Maintenance to Children and Other Family Members or The Hague Convention. The methodology applied in this research is qualitative, with the deductive method, using a bibliographic review. At the end, the main treaties- legal aspects are highlighted.
