What are the main strengths and weaknesses of Brazil's entry into the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD)? In 2017, Brazil formalized the application to join the OECD and, in 2022, the application was accepted by the Organization, which began a lengthy accession process, which requires the country to align with the Organization's standards, in addition to adherence to various normative instruments. Inserted in this conjuncture and having as a research problem precisely the Brazilian entrance to the OECD, this article seeks, from a study of International Organizations and the OECD, to outline, in an exemplary way, some positive and negative points that can arise both during the accession process and eventual acceptance of the country as a full member of the Organization. These positive and negative points are presented from a combination of scenarios found in articles and research on the subject, in addition to those identified in the collected data. It is concluded that the accession process requires invariable weighing of the pros and cons, as well as demands discussions to promote economic development.
