This scientific article explores the concept of multispecies family, focusing on the recognition of animal sentience, the constitutional protection granted to animals and families in Brazil, focusing on the principles of affectivity, solidarity and protection of the human being. The research adopts the deductive method as a research method, since the family is recognized by the Law through the relationships of affection and care (solidarity), so if there is affection and care between guardians and their pets, there may be a framework for this grouping as a family within the legal system. The multispecies family reflects the reality of many Brazilian homes where pets are considered family members. Its recognition validates the human-animal affective bond and guarantees the protection guaranteed to families by the Federal Constitution. Furthermore, it changes the perspective of animals from mere properties to sentient beings. The research contributes to the ongoing discussion about animal rights and the transformation of family structures. It champions the legal structure of the multispecies family, encompassing both the welfare of animals and the emotional bonds they form with their human companions. Finally, it is concluded that the multispecies family must be recognized by the Brazilian legal system, in order to receive due constitutional protection.
