Abstract

PRONAF is the main public policy aimed at family farming in Brazil, and it is important to periodically evaluate it to verify its effectiveness. This study aimed to analyze the distribution of PRONAF resources in the municipalities of Rio Grande do Sul, considering socioeconomic indicators and characteristics of the rural environment. Were investigated 222 municipalities in the Rio Grande do Sul, randomly selected. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics, ANOVA test, and t-test for independent samples. The main results show that PRONAF contributes to the permanence of farmers in the countryside and stands out as an important source of resources for the daily activity, cultivation of temporary and permanent crops, and implementation of agro-industries, contributing to the economic development of the municipalities.
